Tenda TE3L vs TE6L Pro: compare the port plan before the Wi-Fi headline

Explore the guide library · Router comparisons

Choose between these dual-band Wi-Fi 7 models by the internet handoff and the wired devices you need to connect.

Count the required connections: TE3L: three gigabit; TE6L Pro: one 2.5G; Reserve the WAN role
WAN/LAN role flexibility does not change the physical rate of a port.

For these two Tenda models, the useful starting point is your wiring diagram. Both belong to the dual-band Wi-Fi 7 category, but their Ethernet arrangements differ. Count the internet connection and every wired device before deciding which model fits.

The published interface difference

Tenda lists three gigabit WAN/LAN interfaces for TE3L v1.0. The TE6L Pro specification lists one 2.5 Gbps interface and three gigabit interfaces. Confirm the exact regional hardware sold to you because the similar case design does not establish identical capabilities.

Assign a role to each socket

Draw the upstream modem or optical terminal first. Then add a desktop, television, printer, switch or wired access point as required. Mark which interface will serve the internet feed and how many local connections remain.

If the TE6L Pro’s faster interface is used for WAN, do not also count it as a free faster LAN port. If your entire wired installation operates within gigabit requirements, compare the total price and other required features instead of treating the extra rate as automatically valuable.

Check the wireless clients separately

Identify the adapter or phone models you use. A newer router does not upgrade the clients’ radio hardware. Test at the actual desk and in the difficult room; a combined wireless rate is not a measured result for either location.

Include expansion in the purchase

  • Verify any intended mesh pairing with the exact model and firmware.
  • Check the administration and update method you want to use.
  • Confirm guest and provider-service requirements.
  • Price a switch if the remaining local port count is insufficient.

Choose TE3L when its documented configuration covers the task at an appropriate complete cost. Consider TE6L Pro when its added interface capability serves a specific planned connection. This comparison describes specifications and installation choices, not hands-on range or throughput rankings.

What wired-port difference matters on TE6L Pro and BE230?

The main planning difference between these two routers is the faster-port arrangement. If your goal is a multi-gigabit wired connection from the internet feed to a desktop, trace both ends before choosing. A larger wireless speed class does not fill in a missing LAN capability. Tenda lists one 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN port and three gigabit WAN/LAN ports for the TE6L Pro. TP-Link lists a 2.5 Gbps WAN port, a 2.5 Gbps LAN port and three gigabit LAN ports for the Archer BE230. Both examples are dual-band Wi-Fi 7 devices without a listed 6 GHz radio.

What should I compare first on the Archer BE550 and RS300?

If the Archer BE550 and Nighthawk RS300 are on your shortlist, start with the cables you need to connect. Both are tri-band Wi-Fi 7 candidates, so the wireless headline alone does little to identify the better fit for a desk with several wired devices. The cited US BE550 specification lists four 2.5 Gbps LAN ports beside its 2.5 Gbps WAN port. NETGEAR lists two 2.5 Gbps LAN ports, two gigabit LAN ports and a 2.5 Gbps WAN port for the RS300. Verify the exact revision and region being sold.

When are the GT-BE98 Pro’s extra radios useful compared with RT-BE86U?

The GT-BE98 Pro provides a different radio and port layout from the RT-BE86U, but a larger feature set is useful only when it serves your network. Begin with the devices and connections you want to support, then compare the two ASUS designs against that list. ASUS lists the RT-BE86U as dual-band 2.4/5 GHz equipment with one 10G WAN/LAN interface. The GT-BE98 Pro specification includes two 6 GHz radios and two 10G interfaces with different roles. Check the exact regional product and port assignments.
