Applies to: RX2 Pro hardware described on Tenda’s US support page, operating as a router. Check your unit’s labels and manual.
In a conventional router setup, the internet feed and local devices have different roles. Tenda lists one gigabit WAN port and three gigabit LAN ports for the RX2 Pro. Use the printed port labels on your unit to distinguish them rather than relying on a photograph of another revision.
Trace both ends of every cable
Before unplugging anything, take a private photograph of the current wiring. Label the cable from the modem, optical terminal or upstream gateway as the internet feed. Label cables to a computer, television or local switch separately. This avoids a common diagnostic dead end: changing software while a cable leads to a different device than expected.
- Check that the intended internet feed reaches the router’s WAN port for the router-mode setup described in its manual.
- Check that local wired equipment is connected to a LAN port.
- Inspect loose plugs, damaged clips and sharp cable bends. Reseat one connection at a time so the effect is clear.
- Compare the port’s status in the router interface with the cable you traced. Use the manual for the exact status screen on your firmware.
Separate a link problem from an internet problem
If the router does not detect the cable, focus first on that physical connection and the device at the other end. If the cable is detected but the internet remains unavailable, record the WAN status and connection type. Your provider may require a particular configuration; do not guess an account name, VLAN or static address from another household’s setup.
Make one controlled comparison
Use one known-working local device and change only the suspect cable or port at a time. Keep a short record: original connection, change made, and result. If another device works through the same LAN connection, investigate the first device before resetting the router.
A gigabit port rating describes an interface capability, not a promised internet speed. Your service, upstream equipment and client also matter. If the RX2 Pro is being used in AP or repeater mode, follow that mode’s official instructions rather than applying this router-mode checklist unchanged.
